Aftercare
Phase 1 (Days 1–5)
After your tattoo, we will cover it with a healing film to help prevent dust and dirt from invading and infecting the freshly tattooed skin. This can be left on for 24-36 hours. It is waterproof, but should any moisture get underneath the film, then remove it right away. You may find some plasma and ink leaking from your skin; this is completely normal and does not mean that the lines of your tattoo have become thicker!
Gently wash your new tattoo 2-3 times per day with warm, fresh water, and then allow it to air dry.
Now that your tattoo is dry, it’s time to gently and evenly apply your aftercare balm with clean hands. This helps to speed up the recovery of the tattooed skin, reduce discomfort, and minimise the risk of infection. If you don’t have any specific tattoo aftercare, then use natural-based products such as coconut oil, cocoa, or shea butter. DO NOT APPLY PETROLUMIN-BASED PRODUCTS! This will cause your pores to clog up and lead to scabbing and possible scarring of your tattoo.
Phase 2 (Days 5-10)
Avoid picking at flaking skin or any scabbing that may have occurred, and continue to wash your new tattoo with tattoo soap or chemical and perfume-free soap 1-2 times per day.
During phase two, you should continue to apply your aftercare balm to ease any discomfort, such as itching and tightness of the skin. The balm will hydrate and nourish your newly tattooed skin to ensure it continues to heal to its full potential.
Smaller tattoos may finish healing in this phase.
Phase 3 (Day 10 and beyond)
Continue to apply your aftercare balm in thin layers to maintain fresh and healthy skin in the final stages of your tattoo's healing process.
In most cases, any itching and discomfort will likely have dissipated during this phase.
Larger tattoos will begin to heal, and any scar tissue from the tattooing process will begin to improve and disappear.
From this point on, you should use your aftercare balm each day to keep your skin and new tattoo looking healthy, bright, and fresh forever.
Top healing tips and advice
Wash your hands before touching your tattoo.
Do not re-wrap the tattoo once you have removed your first wrap; it needs to breathe to heal.
Wear loose-fitting clothing during the healing process to avoid rubbing and irration.
Unless you are cleaning it, leave it alone.
Stay out of water during the healing process, i.e., in swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes, bath tubs, etc.
Showering is fine, but avoid a heavy and constant flow of water onto the tattoo.
Keep the tattoo out of the sun and avoid the sunbed during the healing process.
Ensure you have clean bedding and sheets.
Avoid places that can be unhygienic, such as the gym, until your tattoo is healed.
Avoid excessive sweating while healing your tattoo; there can be harmful bacteria in your sweat.
Avoid over-moisturising; our products go a long way, and only a thin layer is required each time.
